Thus saith the lord…

“Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute.” Leviticus 19:29

“The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.”

1 Corinthians 6:13

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Matthew 5:27-28

The Netherlands is home to 20-30,000 sex-workers with an estimated 20-31% being human trafficking victims.

What’s the the big deal?

The big deal is we are all made in the image of God and anything that degrades that image is wrong.

There are many who claim sex-work is liberty; the fulfillment of total bodily autonomy. Except sex-workers are selling both their body and their autonomy to a stranger who is purchasing one thing above all—-their right to say no.

They are also buying a lie. Purchasing a performance they know isn’t real; but that doesn’t matter because their focus is the instant gratification of their most carnal desire with no thought to how their actions effect the other person. They’re not after mutual satisfaction and respect, they’re after a self-centered experience. And the easiest way to get that, without being rejected or challenged, is to buy it; and with their money, they demand total subservience and the illusion of the other’s willing participation; if they haven’t purchased a darker fantasy, that is.

God never designed people to be degraded in such a way. Or for sex to be a transaction, rendering one person a slave to the other’s desire. This costs the sex-worker more than they could ever monetarily receive.

As many as 71% of sex-workers are assaulted while “working;” 63% have been raped, and 68% develop life long PTSD. It is well documented that sex-workers have far higher rates of PTSD than the general public, even higher than military veterans.

Why?

Because the human body was never designed to be used like an object, degraded for another’s gratification in an economic transaction. Consenting sex-workers are forcing their bodies, minds, and souls to endure a form of abuse. They force upon themselves what human traffickers force upon their victims.

And governments, activist groups, and individuals around the world are okay with this. Perfectly willing to sacrifice sex-workers on the alter of hedonism, whim, and bodily-autonomy.

God, however, is not And neither am I.

Which is why God called me to

amsterdam

“Go into all the world & preach the good news to everyone.”

—Mark 16:15

As much as god desires the men & women suffering sexual exploitation to be freed, what good is it to save someone from hell on earth if you neglect thier soul to a greater hell for all eternity?

I am not going to Amsterdam just to set captives free in this world, but also the next; and not just those being sexually exploited, but the pimps, traffickers, johns, and anyone else to whom the Lord leads me. Now, I can’t talk anyone out of exploiting themselves or others. What each person needs is a supernatural heart transformation, and that only happens with Christ. So, the strategy is simple, though it won’t be easy; to disrupt the evil of trafficking and sexual exploitation, I will pray daily, preach the gospel, and share the love of Christ.

This wont just take place in street ministry, but in the form long-term relationships. So, time and patience are necessities that will allow me to disciple others in His word and show them the love of Christ. Jesus stuck with me through thick and thin, proving His love, patience, and mercy when I kept trying to prove to Him I was a lost cause. Now it’s my turn to love others as he loved me.

“Freely you have received, now freely give.” —Matthew 10:8

Dreams, however, come with a price. Even the ones given to us by God; which is why I need your help.

the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step

being on mission in Amsterdam for a year is just the beginning. This is a permanent calling to which I have dedicated my life. I will be on this road until the lord alters my path or calls me home. My prayer is that, in time, Christ forged will grow from supporting only one missionary to many, and become capable of funding sponsorships for ex-sex workers, estabslish transition programs & safe homes, provide educational support, and so much more. I cannot attain these goals by myself; however, together, we can forge a path to freedom not only in this life, but into the next for generations to come.
